Emfuleni COVID 19 cases are still rising

Sedibeng Covid 19 cases are steadily rising. The figure is currently at 7906, but is however expected to have shot up by now. This is according to Gauteng’s Health department’s occasional updates. There are however 1583 recoveries. Out of Vaal’s three districts, Emfuleni is leading other municipalities by far in terms of COVID 19 cases whose growth seems to be expanding every day. The Coronavirus plugged municipality has recorded a staging 5665 active cases with 1200 recoveries, Lesedi is the second with 1278 actives cases  and  238 recoveries. Midvaal has the least number of infections in Sedibeng with 921 active cases and 145 recoveries. There are 42 unallocated cases in the district.

“The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Gauteng as at 19 July 2020 sits at 133 617, with 66 374 recoveries and 986 deaths,” reads part of Gauteng Health Department’s report.

Continues the report, “Out of a total of 53 985 contacts traced (these are individuals who were in contact with people who tested positive for COVID-19); 37 125 people have completed the 14 days monitoring period with no symptoms reported and therefore they are de-isolated.”

Sassa money collection points in Vaal, townships, squatter camps and crowded taxi ranks are turning out to be hot spots of COVID 19. South Africa’s Covid 19 Cases now stand at 364 328 with nearly 14 000 new infections reported in last 24 hours
