The usually laid back Vaal Mall, today received a high profile shopper, who caused commotion in Vanderbijlpark as his security details took positions at the shopping complex.
When a convoy of top of the range black Lexus with flicking blue lights eventually evaded the Mall surprised shoppers took stares expecting to get glimpses of President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Instead the newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister, Mathibeli Mokhothu emerged from the convoy under tight security.
He was whisked into the mall to do his shopping. Vaal Mall Centre Management did not know of his presence.
An official of Vaal Mall Centre Management told Vaal Observer that they were aware of the presence of a high profile Lesotho shopper in their premises but said no prior arrangements were made with them.
Vaal Mall Security confirmed the presence of a special shopper but declined to disclose his identity or exact shopping location in the Mall.
Vaal Observer eventually managed to speak to aides manning Mokhothu’s vehicles who confirmed that the Deputy Prime Minister was busy conducting a private shopping spree in the Mall.
The Aide said Mokhothu was a regular visitor to the Mall.
“He shops here most of the times, even before he became the Deputy Prime Minister,” said his aide who also preferred to remain anonymous.
The 43 years old Mokhothu, leader of Democratic Congress was appointed Lesotho Deputy Prime Minister a month ago by the new Prime Minister Moeketsi Majoro
