Vaal’s biggest mall, Vaal Mall, has fallen prey to Covid 19. The coronavirus swept through Dis-chem, ABSA and Woolworths operating in Vanderbijlpark’s imposing shopping mall.

The Centre Management of the mall confirmed the infections but denied rumoured cases at Fruitti Nutti, car guards and cleaning staff..

“We can, however, confirm that positive cases were reported at Dis-chem, ABSA, Woolworths and the Centre Management Office,” reads part of the statement which was released by the centre Management.

The statement said that all of these stores were closed temporarily to allow for professional sanitization and deep cleaning of the premises.

“ABSA and Dis-chem have re-opened for trade already and the Centre Management Offices and Woolworths have re-opened on the 29th of June.”

“All stores, as well as the Vaal Mall Management are taking the necessary precautions to safeguard staff and customers in line with the regulatory requirements and all sanitation measures continue. We assure you that the health and safety of our shoppers, staff and tenants remains of utmost importance to us,” reads the statement.

Vaal Mall has sanitation stations available throughout the mall which we encourage all shoppers to make use of.

The Mall is also enforcing a strict “No Mask, No Entry” policy and has employed security guards to enforce social distancing. Sanitisers are also free flowing at every entrance of the Mall.

It was business as usual today, when Vaal Observer visited the populous Vaal Mall.
