Covid 19 hits Emfuleni

Umfuleni's Covid 19 building

Two Emfuleni workers working in this building tested positive for Covid 19

Emfuleni Municipality’s Electricity department has been  hit by two cases of confirmed COVID 19 infection. The two employees tested positive during the daily routine screening of municipal workers.

The affected employees work between Duncanville, Vanderbijlpark and OK building offices.

All three buildings have been are decontaminated while the Ok building will be repeated again on Monday.

“All officials who were in direct contact with the affected employees have been identified and asked to self-quarantine for seven days,” reads the Municipality statement.

The new ugly development has strained the service delivery – leaving the electricity control room with severe staff shortages and increasing backlogs.

“Residents of ELM are hereby asked to be patient when logging calls to report electricity faults and outages, and allow responding electrician on site the opportunity and space to attend to faults.”

In line with regulations, the municipality will be disinfecting all affected work-stations and buildings. This means temporarily relocating the control room to allow for cleaning and decontaminating. The electricity control room will operate from 06:00 to 22:00 on Monday.
