One of Vanderbijlpark’s biggest shopping centres was shut down yesterday after a President Hyper shop worker tested positive for Covid 19 yesterday.
Workers however turned up for work this morning demanding to be tested as well. The shop management was caught off guard and could not immediately give direction on measures to be taken.
Frightened workers could not have all of that and staged an impromptu protest. Members of the Regional Health Department, Madisebo Ramoloi and Vusi Mbelu were dispatched to the shopping Mall to contain the loaded situation which was threatening to degenerate into a melee.
As the pandemonium grew members of the police service were called to control the crowds. The even followed hardly a day after Vaal region registered its first Covid 19 causality.
